A “Flying” Start for Year 8

Our Year 8 pupils had a flying start as they dove into the vibrant history of Japanese Children’s Day.
Students explored the beautiful symbolism of koinobori (carp streamers) and learned why they are flown as symbols of strength and determination. Inspired by this, they embarked on their own ambitious design projects!
After researching their ideas, pupils carefully painted their designs using sublimation inks and prepared them for the heat press. Adding a sustainable touch, each kite was embellished with recycled materials and sewn together with impressive precision.
Miss Rushent was blown away by the creativity and focus on display, noting that the effort from every student was truly fantastic.
Well done Year 8!
