Ferndown PEDSSA Cross-Country Event

The second PEDSSA Cross-Country event, held at Ferndown, saw a full and enthusiastic contingent of runners from Allenbourn. With much of the course set across heathland, the pre-race tactics focused on a fast start around the field before settling into a steady pace over the tougher terrain. It was fantastic to see the effort and determination shown by all our runners, with many improving their positions from the previous week.
Our KS2 boys ran superbly to secure an excellent 5th place in the team standings. Jack (15th), Harry (19th), Gabriel (26th) and George (69th) all put in strong performances, while Caleb, Theo and Robbie also ran brilliantly—especially impressive for some taking part for the very first time!
Although the KS2 girls’ team was smaller this week, Rose, Bella, Eloise and Julie ran with great spirit and determination. You represented Allenbourn superbly and should be very proud of your efforts.
The KS3 teams ran with even more grit and tenacity than before. Sticking to their pre-race plan, they attacked the field section before digging deep across the heath—elbows out and determination on display to hold their positions! The first girls’ team made a fantastic leap up the leaderboard, moving from 5th to 2nd place, with the next two teams finishing in 10th and 13th. Eliza climbed an impressive eight places to finish 10th, while Maisie and Rose came in 18th and 19th, and Abi finished strongly in 26th.
The boys also improved their team performance, moving up to 2nd and 10th place overall. Harry finished an outstanding 4th, with Osian (14th), Nathan (18th) and Joe (30th) all showing great determination to improve their positions from the previous event.
Another fantastic showing from all our runners—well done to everyone who took part!
