It was a pleasure to take a team of Year 7 pupils to a rounders event last week. Despite a wet and gloomy start, the match went ahead as planned. We arrived in the rain, hopeful the weather would improve — and thankfully, it did! To begin with, we played ‘walking rounders’ for safety reasons, which proved challenging as it was unfamiliar to most. However, as the skies cleared, so did our confidence. The team grew stronger in both batting and fielding, and their understanding of the game’s finer rules also developed throughout the afternoon.

Although we finished second, it was a fantastic experience and we’re already planning a rematch at AMS before the end of term. A big well done to all who played. Special mentions to captain Cerys for her excellent leadership, Lexi for taking her first in-game catch, and Henry for some outstanding catches in the outfield.
