History in the Making!

It was with great excitement that Mrs Darragh drove a full minibus of boys to Broadstone Middle School last week to take part in a historic first — an all-boys netball match! While boys have been involved in other matches before, particularly at KS2, this was the first time a match had been organised purely for boys.
There has been a core group playing regularly across both key stages who have persistently (and enthusiastically) asked Mrs Darragh for their own match. It was agreed that if they could fill the remaining spaces, a match would be arranged. With both sides keeping their end of the deal, we arrived at BMS ready and raring to play.
It was fantastic to see both groups of boys flourish and grow while playing this relatively new game for many of them. They showed superb team spirit and clearly developed their understanding of the game throughout, improving their footwork, passing and marking as the match progressed. With the older boys coming away with a win, it was clear that experience had given them a slight edge, but the enthusiasm and effort from both teams was brilliant to see.
Well done to everyone who took part. You are truly AMS pioneers for inclusivity and equal access to sport!
